Thank you for your interest in our mission trip to Ecuador. Bayside Medical Missions is a Christian organization. We follow Biblical principles for life and service. We seek to serve with love and compassion those God places in our reach to help improve their function and quality of life. Our surgical teams work with La Vida Clinic & Surgery Center in Portoviejo, Ecuador.
Ongoing contact with patients throughout the year ensures great patient care post-operatively and beyond.
This orthopedic surgical trip, led by Dr. Chris O'Grady will concentrate on Surgeries for Sports type injuries and Orthopedic Surgeries.
YOUR TRIP COSTS:

The $550 application fee is treated as a tax-deductible donation to BMM to help subsidize the costs of the surgeries.
Note: Your card will not be charged until your application is completed and approved.

As your host, Fundación La Vida will provide team members with pre-arranged transfers from and to the Manta Airport, Local Lodging, Food, and Daily round-trip Ground Transportation to the clinic.
Separately you will purchase your tickets to Manta, Ecuador.
Costs depend on your travel choices.
To complete the team we need:
* A physical therapist
* A clinical orthopedist to evaluate and treat patients in the clinic during the week.
This short-term trip typically will require eight days. The destination is the Manta Airport which services our area. Many airlines offer flights from points in the USA to Quito. From there you'll need to fly to Manta. Depending on your schedule, an overnight in Quito may be required. Note: There may be non-stop flights from Miami to Manta. Also on certain days, COPA airlines offers Non-Stop flights into Manta from Panama City, (PTY) Panama. Since schedules change from time to time, it is always best to consult airlines directly.
Ecuador is beautiful. After the brigade, you may want to extend your trip to explore its wonders on the mainland or the Galapagos Islands.
You will arrange and pay for your travel to and from Manta, and La Vida Clinic will make all arrangements from there. From the moment you arrive in Manta to the time you depart from Manta, you will enjoy being part of & working together as a team. We will travel, have meals, and share a beach-front guesthouse. We'll participate in morning devotionals & meet for the day's plan before surgeries begin.
The needs of the people are significant. For many years, our teams and the work of La Vida staff have changed the lives of patients and families. The opportunity to show God's love and compassion is ongoing. We invite you to come and serve these wonderful people.

Prerequisites
- Passport The expiration date of the passport must be at least 6 months longer than the departure date from Ecuador. You will add this to your Application.
- Current Professional License: You will upload a copy in your application.
- Immunizations: BMM requires that you be vaccinated to protect from Typhoid and Hepatitis A & B and have a Tetanus booster.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): You will address this in the application.
- One personal reference: You will add his/her contact information in the application.
- Each person participating in the surgeries is to bring: 1. A box of surgical gloves in his/her size 2. And a box of surgical masks,
- Each anesthesia provider is to bring a box of non-sterile gloves in his/her size.
Responsibilities
- Attend morning devotions and team meeting prior to beginning surgeries each day.
- Function as a team with the primary goal of delivering excellent medical care for the La Vida patients.
- Serve in the capacity of your position on the team and/or at the direction of the team leader
- Follow guidelines in Rules of Conduct
- Enjoy the week with your team members and the joy of serving those in need.
- Follow the latest beatitude: " Blessed are the Flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape!"
