Because the love of Christ compels us, we purpose to help those in need of orthopedic and medical treatment in areas where they are difficult to access.
Many years ago, orthopedic surgeons in practice together, encouraged each other to participate in medical missions. This was the beginning of the charitable organization, Bayside Medical Missions & Educational Outreach. (BMM)
Today, BMM volunteer surgical teams provide specialized orthopedic surgeries to persons with limited resources. BMM works together with La Vida Clinic & Surgery Center in Portoviejo, Ecuador, where teams participate eight to ten times per year. La Vida is open year-round providing orthopedic treatment. The staff is compassionate as well as professional and provides pre-operative as well as post-operative care to the patients. It is a unique relationship of two non-profits working together to share the love of God through medical care.
BMM has been unique in its financial approach since its inception. It has no salaried employees, follows an all-volunteer, model, and has the support of companies who provide needed professional services on a pro bono basis. This approach enables BMM to dedicate funds to benefit the patients served at La Vida.
BMM seeks sponsorships and financial donations to cover expenses generated to provide the surgeries.
Therefore, BMM requests donations and engages in fundraising activities.
