Thank you so much for your interest in our mission trip to Ecuador. Bayside Medical Missions is a Christian ministry serving to help improve the function and quality of life of those in need. We seek to serve those whom God places in our reach with love and compassion. Our surgical teams work together with La Vida Clinic & Surgery Center in Portoviejo, Ecuador. Continuous contact throughout the year ensures great patient care post-operatively and beyond.
This orthopedic surgical trip, led by Dr. Kellie Leitch will focus on Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeries.
Dr. Leitch will be accompanied by two orthopedic surgery residents. To complete the team, we are seeking volunteers for these positions: another anesthesia provider, an anesthesiologist or a CRNA, a physical therapist, and a clinical orthopedist to examine and evaluate new patients during the week. Many will hear of the team being there and will come seeking treatment. This is an important, non-surgical position,
This short-term trip will require eight days. The destination is the Manta Airport which services our area. Direct flights from points in the USA to Manta, are available on COPA Airlines. Otherwise, service to Manta is available from Quito but this route may require an overnight stay in Quito. Since Ecuador is a beautiful country, you may want to extend your trip to explore its wonders.
You will arrange and pay for your travel to and from Manta, and the La Vida staff will make all arrangements from there. From the moment you arrive in Manta to the time you depart from Manta, you will enjoy being part of and working together as a team. We will travel, have meals, and share a beach-front guesthouse. The team will participate in morning devotionals and gather for the day's planning before surgeries begin.
The needs of the people are significant. For many years now, our teams and the work of La Vida staff have changed the lives of patients and their families. The opportunity to show God's love and compassion is ongoing. We invite you to come and serve these wonderful people.
Motivated by gratitude for Jesus Christ, His love, and saving grace, we are dedicated to excellent surgical care, with the goal of demonstrating God's compassionate love for all people and with the hope that each person will come to know His Son Jesus as his personal Savior. Based on Luke 10:8-9
